An acquaintance of mine, Aaron, is an antiques dealer, and hes forever on the lookout for older, solid wood case goods with a weathered finish. People cant get enough of them, he tells me. The chippier the paint, the better. Such is the demand that authentically old pieces are harder and harder to come by, which is why Aaron was so grateful that I told him about our Chevron Cabinet. Made of solid reclaimed pine, its shape is casual but classic, with traditional baseboard and working cremone bolt hardware. Inside, theres a single adjustable shelf that spans the cabinets entire width, so it can store bulkier items with ease. The finish started out with a light coat of gray glaze, which was rubbed, sanded, and scraped to reveal the wood underneath. Its just the right amount of worn, Aaron told me.
